No owned website
Nothing existed for Google to rank in organic search, and no place where the cafe controlled its own menu, hours and brand.
Independent sample project · Local SEO
A family-owned breakfast and lunch diner in Lancaster, Ohio, with a loyal following and no website of its own. Its entire online presence lived on a Facebook page, while its hours and menu were scattered across aggregator sites the owners did not control.
The business problem
The cafe had the hard part already solved: good food, steady regulars and genuine word-of-mouth. What it did not have was anywhere online that it actually owned.
Someone searching for breakfast in Lancaster found competitors with real websites first. Meanwhile the cafe's own hours and menu sat on third-party aggregator pages, often out of date, with no way for the owners to correct them.
Findings
Nothing existed for Google to rank in organic search, and no place where the cafe controlled its own menu, hours and brand.
With the Facebook page as the only presence, a platform change or account lockout could remove the business from the internet overnight.
Review counts and menus disagreed across directories, confusing both customers and search engines about which details were current.
High-intent searches for specific dishes and online ordering went to competitors by default.
Assessment
Unlike a site with years of accumulated technical debt, there was nothing to untangle here. No broken redirects, no penalty history, no legacy architecture.
The audit scored the cafe across owned website, search visibility, local listings, reviews and online ordering. Reviews came out strongest at roughly 4.6 stars; everything requiring an owned property scored lowest.
That combination is unusually favourable. Strong reputation with weak infrastructure means the groundwork is already done.

This is an independent sample project prepared for portfolio purposes. It is not affiliated with, commissioned by, or endorsed by the business named, and no client implementation or measured result is claimed.
The purpose is to demonstrate audit method, structure and recommendation quality on a real-world scenario.
More for restaurants
This audit is an independent sample project. The same method — owned presence, readable menus, consistent hours, Restaurant schema and AI-crawler access — is what I apply for restaurants that hire me.
