A business that serves several countries has a structural decision to make before any content work: separate country domains, subfolders such as /uk/ and /au/, or subdomains. Each has trade-offs in cost, authority and maintenance. Whichever you choose, hreflang tells search engines which version belongs to which audience, and every country version needs genuinely local detail — prices, spelling, contact routes, legal notes — rather than a copy with the country name swapped.
